Why Samsung Wallet Is My Favourite Payment App

Samsung Wallet has everything in one place- Cards, Travel Passes, Movie Tickers, Government IDs

Overview:

I've been using Samsung Wallet ever since I started using my M17 in January this year (2026), and the experience has been a breeze. If I'd have to describe it in a few words, I'd say it's Fast, Reliable, Smooth and User Friendly. I know this app is exclusively for Galaxy Users, But I feel this review can benefit every user who uses digital payments on a daily basis. Read my Blog to know what's my take on Samsung Wallet.

App and Interface:

The App comes pre-installed on Samsung phones and is optional to use, though I highly recommend giving it a try. As I've said the app is super smooth as the rest of One UI is. This is unlike other payment or wallet apps which take a long time to load, ask for additional biometric checks, like BHIM UPI (Read my take about the BHIM App on Synthesize Vol.1, Issue 2).

The App has a row of quick access cards, which include multiple stuff that you would usually carry in your physical wallet such as:

  • Contactless Debit and Credit Cards

  • DigiLocker Issued IDs and Certificates

  • UPI

  • Movie Tickets

  • Transport Passes/Tickets

  • Login Credentials (Usernames/Passwords)

The best part is that when you want to use the app, for example for a payment, you don't even need to open the app, just swipe up from your home/lock screen and voila, the app opens in less than half a second. No lag, No nonsense whatsoever. Registering your UPI ID and card details is the same as in other payment applications.

Payment Experience:

I've been using this app mainly for UPI payments and it works very smoothly, I just swipe up, click the scan button, scan the QR code, enter my UPI Pin and done. I can also check my balance, send money to others, share my QR code to others to receive money just like any other UPI App. Making payments on apps like Zomato/Swiggy is also a breeze since a pop-up opens rather than the whole app saving a lot of time.

Once you've added your debit card, you can just pay by tapping your phone after verifying with your fingerprint or your Samsung PIN. I've tried it and it works just like a regular card tap. The transactions made by Samsung Wallet show up in the app too, including those made by card.

Rewards & Benefits:

This is definitely not the place where Samsung Wallet excels. They do have rewards, but they're very specific. Unlike apps like BHIM or Navi UPI which reward you a big amount like ₹30 and then ₹1-₹5 per transaction thereafter, Samsung does not do heavy first-time rewards or per transaction ones either (For UPI).

Instead, Samsung provides users with Promotional Campaigns which run for a limited time and provide rewards for specific use cases. Let's take the "Tap & Pay, Get ₹500" campaign for example. Let's break it down:

  • Campaign runs from 13th Aug to 31st Aug 2026

  • Valid on Mastercard Debit/Credit Card

  • Get ₹100 Gift Card on 5 Tap & Pay transactions

I read the terms, and as per that the gift card mentioned here is an Amazon Gift Card of ₹100 each per transaction up to 5 times. Now this is not applicable for all users, but Mastercard holders. They also launched a campaign for UPI users where users can win multiple vouchers by paying via UPI by using their fingerprint.

Yes, Samsung Wallet allows users to pay with their fingerprint instead of using a UPI PIN, which I know is more convenient, But I still haven't tried that out.

Final Verdict:

Overall, I love the App for its convenience and reliability over the time. The lack of rewards on every transaction may not interest some users into it, but for a person wanting a simple and functional UPI app with high stake rewards occasionally, this app makes the most sense. After switching to Samsung Wallet, I barely feel like opening Google Pay or any other payment app.

That's all for this review, Thank you very much for reading, this is Noah Rodrigues, Signing out.
